How can you stop from full-day scrolling your mobile screen and consuming endlessly content? Habits shape us and maintain good habits take effort, but it is worth it. At the same time, keeping our minds healthy is essential. When we use the term ‘healthy mind’, giving your brain good food is a crucial step. Today in the time of the internet, there is endless content coming on your mobile screen. It becomes imperative that we make sure we should not give attention to meaningless content. E should use social media for our benefit, not for only entertainment.
How to do it?
- Well, the first and most effective step is to filter what you consume. For example, many types of content are not worthy enough to be on the watch list. Many social media short clips of dancing and singing and other memes material are wasting our time. Yes, we should have little entertainment, but it does not mean that all we consume is dumb and clueless stuff. We should stop these teenage mentality content materials.
- We should choose good podcasts and articles to read over these brainless kinds of stuff. We should only visit news platforms that seriously analyse things and see only authorised media houses that are trustable. It is imperative to save ourselves from fake news and useless content.
- There are many movies and tv shows that get released on various platforms, there is no need to watch every popular thing, save your time. I am not asking you to quit it almost. I am trying to explain to you is that choosing quality content is a very essential step even in case of entertaining yourself through the digital world.
- Don’t give your brain the harmful or toxic food of entertainment and celebrity news. In today’s time, everybody is giving us information, whether it is Twitter or Facebook etc. These people, nothing adds to your life.
- The world is too big for consuming knowledge, so there are no limits on the good articles and podcasts. There are many fields and areas to read and talk about. I am sure you will have an interest or job in any particular field. You can read and consume content for that specific field to boost your knowledge base in your area. For example, you can check how these things run in another country, or maybe you can check how some particular item was used to be done in the past. Yes, you cannot read the same kind of materials every day. That is why I am telling you why you should have good content providers in your bookmarks/speed dial. So, whenever you find that vacuum feeling or get bored because of the same topics, you can go to these platforms and have a good time. You can follow any particular author or writer on any news or magazine website for that reason. You must check out the editorial pages of these publications. If you find that section boring, then there are other options available too.
Benefits: lots of, actually. It will increase our knowledge and understanding of things and stop us from consuming that shit content. These social media platforms are just designed to make you scroll their pages and give your worthy time to their bizarre content. For example, Instagram is the platform where people only share pictures with smiling faces and try to show off. It is like your friend indirectly says to you through Instagram that looks, where am I having this tasty food or what I have purchased or whom I am dating. Reading good stuff will also increase your knowledge or language skills. Most importantly, whenever you talk to someone, like any conversation, you will always have an opinion to express. I am not saying that you always put your thoughts in every conversation. What I am saying is you will not be clueless if something important is discussed with your peers. You will not have any bad feeling of not knowing things very well or less informed person. This small change but essential change will save you time also, and you can utilise that time for some more valuable things. You will not have the regret wasting time. Be careful. We should choose only good platforms and sites for this.
FOMO - fear of missing out: don’t worry. You will not become a nerd by doing this, or you will be not getting lost or disconnected from all the relevant stuff. You will create a sound knowledge base for yourself by going through good and meaningful content. Our thinking and perspectives on general things are critical, and consuming valuable things for your brain will definitely improve your thinking and attitude about general things around you. Many websites manage these groups or communities. If you searched for it properly, I am sure you will be found one of them.
